We formed our society in March 2017, originally to run one event in the village a Bonfire and firework party.
Our first year was kindly supported by both Sheepy Parish Council, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Local Hedge Layer Rob Thompson and Polesworth Garage. We have been self funded since 2018.
We found rising crime in our local area was becoming a huge concern to villagers before long we were registered as the local Neighbourhood watch, we are verified by the police and fully insured, subject to risk assessments for any events that fall outside their usual insurance.
We are a fully constituted group and are applying for charity status.
We run a Facebook group, next door app and also a very active and friendly Whats App group and Alert page, the services of NHW are free to villagers.
We have fitted lights to vulnerable properties, confronted suspicious visitors and reported un-taxed vehicles using our roads, villagers using Whats App (especially those living alone) report feeling safer knowing "someone" is only a message away.
We have put up new NHW signage throughout the villages served by The Sheepy parish Council, and cover all villages within this Parish. (Sheepy Magna, Sheepy Parva, Wellsborough, Upton, Pinwall and Cross Hands) We also liaise with other NHW groups outside the Parish and the local police from Market Bosworth (our local officer sits on our whats app group) and offer support to victims of crime.
Our annual events are Our Easter Egg Hunt held on Easter Sunday for children of the parish
Our Scarecrow Trail held on the first weekend of September
Our bonfire and firework party on 5th November
Our candle parade 2nd Sunday in December
We erect and decorate the village Christmas tree on behalf of the parish council, who formally asked us to adopt this task.
We organised the restoration of the village horse trough on behalf of the parish council with help from Rob Thomson - the horse trough is planted by members of the NHW and the Black Horse Public House
We are kindly supported by many local businesses who receive local and national advertising in exchange for generous prizes for our Scarecrow festival if you would like to offer a prize or can offer sponsorship please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Every year we make donations to local and worthy causes and we ask for donations at the Bonfire and Candle Parades, since we established in 2017 we have made donations to :-
Sheepy Church £172.00 December 2017
#Islastones £413.00 November 2018

If you would like to apply for a donation from our society, please write to us, with information about your groups needs, and how the funding will help you.
We also accept applications from individuals and families in the area who have lost a loved one or face a terminal diagnosis - and those in financial hardship.
All applications are put before our board of Trustees and are granted on a case by case basis. Your donation from us may come from funding we have set aside, or we may nominate your group for a collection at our Bonfire or Candle parade.
If we receive no nominations or applications our board of trustees will nominate local groups we feel are worthy of our support, all decisions are final.
Our charity donations come from excess money raised throughout the year to fund our events - any money not required by the society will be made available from November.
